Dr. Mongodi works as a consultant intensivist at Maggiore della Carità University Hospital, Novara, Italy. During her training, she completed a PhD program in Microsurgery and Experimental Surgery and a Master of science in statistics and biostatistics.
She is one of the most recognised experts in the field of lung ultrasound in critical care worldwide; she has authored more than 100 peer-review publications in leading journals including Intensive Care Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. She has been leader of the ESICM ESPNIC recommendations on quantitative lung ultrasound in adult, pediatric and neonatal intensive care medicine, published in 2025 in Intensive Care Medicine.
Dr. Mongodi has trained dozens of young intensivists and has hosted trainees from several European and non-European countries, with the aim of disseminating knowledge and promoting the use of lung ultrasound in intensive care.
